Galaxy S3 Screens

I have both a production model (with a screen that got replaced too ) and a prototype one , the one that looks like a huge square thing and its black in color .

I do have some notes on them .

1. The prototype has a much more saturated screen , all colors look deeper (yes compared to another AMOLED screen... )

2. The layers above the panel itself are differently placed on the prototype creating reflections on black colors . Something not easily found on AMOLED screens .

3. The brightness is also different , once again favoring the prototype , although the difference is small and you have to put them side by side to notice it .

4. Screens are driven by the phone itself and are automatically updated if a newer firmware has different settings in gamma , saturation etc . Both phones run the same firmware version , and that makes it even more interesting .

5. On a different aspect now , they also have different cameras , and once again the prototype model has a better sensor wich produces far less noise in dark scenes . Once again , after writting the same firmware in both of them .

6. All Galaxy S 3 boards have their production date imprinted on them . They are both manufactured the exact same day . This means many things , one of them being that board production started before the final design was ready . They did however adapt the design to the board and not the other way around since boards were already made .

7. Still compared to an HTC One X and it's Super LCD , the brightness is lower even at the maximum setting , and except from extreme cases , the advantage in color saturation is slowly becoming smaller .
Viewing angles are getting closer too , however when put side by side , for some strange reason the AMOLED screen of the Galaxy S 3 produces more "warm" colors .
